“I am very glad that you arrived in Moscow accompanied by brothers whom I know well,” the patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church greeted the cardinal, and said that the Russian Orthodox Church appreciates the decision of Pope Francis to send Zuppi to Moscow.
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that Zuppi was received in Kyiv by Vladimir Zelensky. As Zelensky wrote, the parties “discussed the situation in Ukraine and humanitarian cooperation as part of the implementation of the Ukrainian formula for peace.” According to the President, “only a combination of efforts, diplomatic isolation and pressure on Russia can influence the aggressor and bring a just peace to the Ukrainian land.”
