On Saturday October 5, an important campaign meeting took place at the prestigious Barsey by Warwick hotel, located on the famous Avenue Louise in Brussels. The meeting was organized by candidate Manel Msalmi number 32 with David Weytsman, mayoral candidate. The evening was a unique opportunity for Brussels citizens to meet their future leaders and to know the plans and vision of the candidates for the municipal elections in come.
David Weytsman – The future mayor
David Weytsman, the current candidate for mayor of Brussels, enjoys broad support within the party and has a clear vision for the future of the city. Her campaign aims to improve the quality of life in the capital, with a strong focus on education, security, women’s empowerment and health. As president of the MRBruxelles women’s section, candidate number 32 on the list for the municipal elections is an important figure on the international scene, Ms. Msalmi brings impressive experience. Her commitment to gender equality, human rights and international cooperation was highlighted during the meeting.
Manel Msalmi has extensive experience as a researcher in the field of international relations, environmental humanities. She is a blogger on the MENA region in several international newspapers and participates in educational projects against extremism and antismitism in Belgium and in the European Union. She also collaborates with UNESCO and is an expert on MENA and South Asia issues within European institutions. Her involvement in the international community is reflected in her fight against injustices, which makes her an emblematic figure during this campaign.
In addition, Ms. Msalmi is the founder and president of the European Association for the Defense of Minorities, she is a Respectzone ambassador and peace ambassador at Elnet France. She received a prestigious human rights award in Belgium in 2018 .
With her extensive experience and passion for justice, Manel Msalmi stressed that she wishes to play a leading role in improving the daily lives of Brussels citizens, with particular attention to minorities and vulnerable groups. “I believe in a Brussels where everyone, whatever their origin, is treated fairly and where we work together to fight extremism and division,” she said.
