Meeting at the Palace, Jokowi Again Touched Health Budget that never disbursed

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – President Joko Widodo again mentioned health budget which was not optimally disbursed during the pandemic Covid-19.

He alluded to compensation for death due to Covid-19 which was not directly given to positive patients who died.

“The deceased really (need) assistance for compensation. It should be that once the compensation died immediately came out,” said Jokowi when opening a meeting at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Monday (6/29/2020).

He also requested that there be no further delays in payment of hospital claims so that the treatment process at the Covid-19 referral hospital could run smoothly.

Likewise with the incentives for health workers, Jokowi requested that they be immediately disbursed and distributed.

He asked the Minister of Health to cut regulations that prevent the distribution of all budgets related to Covid-19 treatment.

“The procedure at the Ministry of Health can really be cut. Do not beat around the bush. If the regulations in the candy (ministerial regulation) are complicated, it will be simplified,” said Jokowi.

“Payment of hospital claims as soon as possible. Incentives for medical personnel as soon as possible. Incentives for lab staff are also immediate. What are we waiting for? The budget is already there,” he said.

Jokowi previously flicked Minister of Health Terawan Agus Putranto because the disbursed health budget was only a little.

This was revealed through a video that aired on the YouTube account of the Presidential Secretariat on Sunday (6/28/2020). The video contains Jokowi’s speech when opening the plenary cabinet session at the State Palace, Jakarta on June 18, 2020.

“For example, I gave an example. In the health sector, Rp. 75 trillion was budgeted. Only 1.53 percent came out, try it,” said the Head of State.

“Money is circulating in the community to brake to all of it. It was immediately released using the right target. So that it triggers the economy,” Jokowi said.

As a result of the budget that has not yet sought, it has an impact on the medical staff who are currently struggling to overcome Covid-19.

“Payment of allowances for doctors, specialist doctors, for medical personnel, is immediately issued. Shopping for equipment is immediately issued. This has been provided Rp. 75 trillion like that,” said the President.
