From Bron to Las Vegas. From electrician to one of best call of duty players. From Samir Khamallah to Twizz.
This inhabitant of Villefontaine (Isère) is living a waking dream. At 23, he is a professional player in a video game franchise. Portrait.
He worked at the factory before the Covid-19
Before the Covid-19 epidemic, Samir was a young person like the others. He occasionally plays Call of Duty. Trained as an electrician, he works in the factory.
Then everyone is confined. The young enthusiast of the PlayStation 4 war game franchise is going to play hard. “I bled the game during the Covid”he confided to Lyon news. Chaining the games, he does not yet expect to become a player out of category.
He gets spotted on Call of Duty
“I didn’t think I had enough reflexes. And yet. On the 2019 Call of Duty Modern Warfare game, the one who now calls himself Twizz is unplayable. Clutch Rayn, video production company in Bron and e-sports team, marks it.
It’s out of the question to leave this crack of video games to another “team”. When Twizz joins Clutch Rayn, he takes a big step and realizes his childhood dream. “I never thought I would become a professional player! »
“We qualified for the world championship by beating a Spanish team which is one of the best”, proudly tells us Samir, comfortably installed in the premises of Clutch Rayn in Bron.

Qualified for the world championship in Las Vegas
Twizz then shone in Las Vegas, during the world championship at the end of last June. “We were the only European team there. “We finished 7ᵉ. We beat the two ‘top teams’ in our pool. The next week, we lost against one of the best American teams. »
Enough to strengthen the rating of Twizz, now renowned as one of the best French Call of Duty players in 2023.
Red Bull, coffee and orange juice on competition days
His secret to being the best? “All week, I wake up at the same time as the time of the competition on the weekend. We have training from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. »
The weekend of the competitions, he hardly eats: “Really light and an orange juice. Sometimes Red Bull or coffee. In Las Vegas for example, I only drank water and I was on top! »
Breathing lessons, warm-up, dexterity… Samir prepares like a top athlete. Does he live? Yes.
Months between 500 and more than 2,000 euros
“There are months when I earn less than 500 euros and months more than 2,000 euros. It depends on the competitions and the sponsors, but I live well! »
Call of Duty rewards have dropped since Covid. “In Las Vegas, we only won 3,000 euros. But barely three years ago, we took 20,000 euros… From the next Call of Duty license (which comes out at the end of the year) it will be back to the way it was. If I keep my status and I do the job, it should be fine. »
In the meantime, Twizz broadcasts its games on Twitch and regularly organizes tournaments, during which Internet users can play with or against it. So, would you be ready to face the best French player of the moment?
