Meet Tinker Toy: The Motorcycle with the Most Cylinders in the World!

Jakarta

The motorcycle with the most cylinders in the world is called “Tinker Toy”. Two cylinders or four cylinders? Not enough! This motorcycle has a 48 cylinder engine, taken from the Kawasaki KH250!

A man from England, Simon Whitelock, made a “Tinker Toy” from 16 Kawasaki KH250 engines. The aim is to make the motorcycle enter the Guinness World Record list as the motorcycle engine with the largest cylinders.

The motorcycle takes its name from the B17 Flying Fortress bomber in World War II. Tinker Toy was not created to pursue performance, but simply to set records beyond the reach of others.

Named from the Bonham auction site, this project began in 1998 and was only completed in 2003. 80 percent of the work was done in the last year.

16 two-stroke motorcycle engines were changed to six with eight cylinders each, the ignition and carburetor are from Mikuni, the transmission is taken from the BMW K100.

The bike’s original tank was made from a 150mm diameter stainless steel tube, located between the middle and lower cylinders. At the same time, behind the tank there are electrical elements.

To start the motorcycle you need a scooter with a 125cc 2-stroke single cylinder engine that works as a starter motor.

The frame is specially made. Additional springs are installed on the front fork, Hagon accepts the rims.

This motorcycle weighs 600kg, and the great thing is, this motorcycle is road legal.

When it first started without an exhaust system, Simon said the engine sounded like a Rolls-Royce Merlin, which he certainly liked as a World War II aviation enthusiast.

The motorcycle was reportedly sold for 92 thousand pounds or about 1.86 billion Rp. Accompanying the purchase is a Guinness World Records frame certificate, and a UK V5C registration document.
