Quite a few amateur footballers post scenes filmed on the pitch on the Internet. Offensive player Tim Mohr from association league leaders FC Palatia Limbach had a similar idea with friends on New Year’s Eve from 2009 to 2010. They decided to put their tricks and shots on goal on a YouTube channel. A few days later, the idea, which arose from a beer whim, was implemented. The “freekickerz” were born. “We would never have expected this kind of response back then,” says Mohr. In addition to the 30-year-old, the “freekickerz” are Konstantin Hert, Jan Stemmler, Felix Casalino and Martin Luzie. They now have more than 8.6 million subscribers and are one of the most subscribed German YouTube channels.
