Sascha Becker is the main presenter of the news magazine “SWR Aktuell” at 7:30 p.m. He is from Rhineland-Palatinate: born in Trier in 1975 and grew up in Kasel in the Ruwertal, he has lived and worked in Mainz since 2000. His journalistic career began during his studies at Radio RPR. Sascha Becker is married and has two children.
Sandra Hochhuth
SWR
Sandra Hochhuth was born in Kassel in 1981. She studied political science and media and communication studies at the University of Göttingen. From 2005 to 2007 she worked as a reporter for various NDR radio programs. She then completed a trimedial traineeship at SWR. She has been working as a reporter for the news program since April 2009, which she has also presented since August 2010. For a while she also moderated the SWR program “Sport am Montag”.
Dorit Becker
SWR
Dorit Becker was born in Bielefeld in 1977. She spent her childhood in Indonesia and Middle Franconia. After a year of social work in Brazil, she studied Protestant theology and older German literature in Berlin and Lisbon. After training at the German Journalism School, she came to SWR in 2006. She worked at SWR4 for eight years as an editor, reporter and presenter. During this time she also moderated the television program “SWR Weather Rhineland-Palatinate”. Dorit Becker has been working for the news programs on SWR television as a presenter, reporter, editor and deputy editorial director since November 2014. Dorit’s heart beats for music. She sings in two choirs – preferably in small ensembles.
Christina Dietrich
SWR
The native of Hesse with Franconian roots came to the other side of the Rhine after studying politics. She received her master’s degree in journalism in Mainz. This was followed by a tri-media internship (television, radio, online) at SWR with numerous stations in Rhineland-Palatinate and Baden-Württemberg. Since 2010 she has been working for the editorial team of the state news on SWR television. Initially as a reporter, editor in the direction and producer of the compact edition – and since the end of 2011 also in front of the camera as a news anchor. She loves the variety in her job. No day is like the other!
Stephan Ebmeyer
SWR
Stephan Ebmeyer was born in Bünde, East Westphalia, in 1981 and grew up in Lübbecke. After studying business informatics in Paderborn, he studied media studies in Tübingen. He then went to ZDF in Mainz, where he reported on computer, technology and network topics as well as games for 3sat as an author and editor, mainly for “news”. In 2009 he moved to SWR in Stuttgart. He has been working for the SWR aktuell editorial team since 2019, mainly as a reporter and editor. With the start of the “SWR Aktuell Update” in 2020, he also moderated the news editions.

The Frankfurt native studied Spanish, philosophy and psychology in Hamburg and then volunteered at Radio Bremen. After several years as a television reporter and news anchor for the local news magazine “buten un binnen”, four years followed in Canada as a freelance author for ARD radio and two years as a producer for television in the ARD studio in Washington. Florens Herbst has been working as a reporter for SWR television since the beginning of 2015 and has also been presenting the news since July.
Anika Keil
SWR
As a child from the Ruhr area, Anika Keil came to the southwest for the SWR traineeship. During this time she got to know the editorial team of “SWR Aktuell Rheinland-Pfalz” – and stayed there: Since 2017 she has been working as a reporter behind the camera for television news. Since 2020 she has also been in front of the camera for “SWR Aktuell” – first in an online format, now on television. She also moderates the SWR programs “People & Moments” and “Landesart”. Anika Keil commutes between the beautiful “Rhoihesse” and the Ruhr area. She can also be seen there on WDR in the “Lokalzeit aus Duisburg”.
Tim Kirschsieper
SWR
Tim Kirschsieper was born in Düsseldorf and spent his childhood and youth in the Rhineland. In 2005 he came to Mainz to study business administration. After completing his studies, he completed his traineeship at the SAT.1 state studio in Mainz and also worked there as an editor for a few years. He then worked as a freelancer for RTL, ZDF, Sport1 and other television stations. He has been working as a reporter for SWR Aktuell since 2015 and has moderated the news program “SWR Aktuell RP” since 2020.
Britta Krane
SWR
Britta Krane began her journalistic career after graduating from high school at the newspaper in her hometown of Unna. During her law studies, she wrote longer reports and daily reports for the cover section of the newspaper. She was also employed as a planner in various editorial departments until she finally developed a passion for working in television and produced her first news films for Sat.1. She completed her traineeship as a trimedia at the WAZ Media Group’s Ruhr Journalism School. From there she went to Bremen, where she worked as a reporter, editor and finally presenter for Radio Bremen and ARD. In addition, she helped set up various foreign-language television programs at Deutsche Welle in Bonn and made films around the world as a VJ until the beautiful Rhineland-Palatinate conquered her heart – with a glass of Mosel wine and Saumagen. Since then she has been a news anchor for SWR Aktuell and moderates the political magazine Zur Sache as well as regular special programs for SWR.
Fatma Mittler-Solak
SWR
The Palatinate native with Turkish roots is a child of SWR. While studying political science and education in Heidelberg, she worked as a radio presenter for the SWR youth station DASDING. After completing her master’s degree in art, she did a traineeship at Südwestrundfunk. She then moved relatively quickly to SWR television. The two-hour live broadcast “Coffee or Tea?!” was good preparation for the news. Fatma Mittler-Solak loves hosting live. Since 2010 she has also presented the service program “ARD Buffet” on Erste. For them it is the ideal mix.
Anke Neuzerling
SWR
Anke Neuzerling has presented the television news at SWR Aktuell since 2017. Born in Limburg, she studied German and Italian in Frankfurt and Rome and volunteered at Hessischer Rundfunk in Frankfurt. She moderated programs for hr, 3sat and sat1, among others. In addition to moderation, she also works in planning and as a television news reporter for SWR television.
Janboris Rätz
SWR
Janboris Rätz grew up in Reutlingen, Baden-Württemberg, but as a child he also often spent time with his paternal grandparents in Kerpen (Eifel) in Rhineland-Palatinate. Before working at SWR, Janboris Rätz lived and worked in Brussels for 15 years, where he reported on the EU, NATO and the Benelux countries for ZDF, among others. Janboris Rätz is non-binary, which means that Janboris Rätz does not define himself as a man or woman, but as a human being.
Daniela Schick
SWR
Her heart beats for news and political reporting. Formerly as a reporter and now as a presenter, she is passionate about providing information about current topics. The Mainz native has roots in the southwest: she studied history, media studies and German in Mannheim. She did her trimedial traineeship in Stuttgart, Baden-Baden and Mainz – in the areas of radio, TV and online. Since then she has been enthusiastic about television: from “SWR Aktuell” to “Zur Sache Rheinland-Pfalz” to many election programs. She also worked as a sports presenter at SWR for four years. That’s what she particularly likes about her job: “That I always meet new, exciting topics and people!”
