Jaden Smith, the son of Will Smith, who rose to fame for his role in the film ‘Looking for happiness‘, is currently showing us its solidarity side with the opening of its first restaurant to offer free vegan meals to homeless people. The 22-year-old activist has already been helping feed underprivileged communities since the launch of his ‘I Love You’ food truck in Los Angeles.
Talking about his new project with Variety, Jaden explained that anyone can order in the restaurant, but if a customer is not homeless, they will have to pay but for the homeless it will be totally free. Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith’s son told the publication: ‘It’s for the homeless to get free food‘.
Young Jaden launched his food truck ‘I Love You‘in 2019 when he turned 21, and said the movement is about’ giving people what they deserve, free healthy vegan food‘. Since then, it has helped feed thousands of people in the Skid Row area of Los Angeles and in Harlem in New York City. Jaden has been involved in various projects, and the activist also owns the company JUST Water who installed a water filtration system in Flint, Michigan, two years ago.
He also directs the project Water Box de 501CTHREE.org to provide access to clean water to communities, featured in New Balance’s We Got Now campaign. The initiative was also seen in the Netflix documentary Brave Blue World, which also featured Matt Damon, with Jaden showing off his Water Box creation.
On their website we can see the location of four Water Boxes and Flint, where the main water system was contaminated with lead. As for his father, Will Smith, the actor has made it clear that he is currently in “the worst shape of my life” after months of confinement restrictions.
The 52-year-old actor took to Instagram on Tuesday to share a Boomerang photo of himself in nothing more than a pair of tiny black boxer shorts. However, Jaden told Variety that he was not surprised by his father’s Instagram posts, as he had seen the changes at home. He said: ‘We joke with him in the family. It really wasn’t a surprise to us. We have seen it evolve towards that‘.
