Mike is a longtime Seattle reporter and editor who debuted at the Seattle Post-Intelligencer in 2000 as a political reporter. The California motorcycle native became known for his “Under the Needle” column that earned him the nickname Seattle Storyteller.

After leaving PI in 2009 – and bought part of a Queen Anne bar soon after – Mike spent time at Patch.com, KPLU, and most recently as a radio host and reporter for KIRO 97.3 FM.

Now at., Mike will focus on a range of topics, including the intersection of civic life and technology, reporting on the impact of politics, transportation, regulation, housing and more. on the innovation economy. He’s already beefed up our coverage of the historic organizing effort at an Amazon distribution center in Alabama.
