His role at the Couvent des Jacobins
“A typical day does not exist at the Convent, there are approximately 365 typical days!” explains Marc Lejeune. “The weeks revolve around the events that we host of course, but also all the extras: equipment maintenance, updating, upkeep, technology watch, tests and experiments. There’s always something to do”.
On events, the general principle is to check each week the necessary equipment, the plans for each room occupied, the quantitative needs, our inventory, make quotes for rental, manage the assembly time with or without an external team, the dismantling before continuing with the assembly of the next event… You have to think of everything… and anticipate! ” What is essential is above all to do tests! So that no problem can arise during congresses, you have to test upstream in order to anticipate the slightest problem and to have the right solution at the right time” Judge Mark.
His journey
During his 5 years of architecture studies in Rennes, Marc gradually devoted himself to audiovisual thanks to his school’s video lab. ” I finally branched off to a Pro Degree in audiovisual at Saint-Brieuc. An environment in which I felt much more at home » does he remember.
« I then obtained the Master Pro NUMIC at the University of Rennes II, a course that combines cinema and new technologies. I was able to combine my knowledge of architecture and video. I arrived at the Convent through the internship necessary for the validation of this Master’s degree”. And Marc ultimately never left.
Along with his studies, he has always had a passion for video and computers. “With friends, we made several short films thanks to the audiovisual means of the university. I also participate in the Traveling Festival every year. I started as a volunteer in the video recording of the various conferences. Since 2017, I have been hosting a team of students for a course on cameras and multi-camera video capture. It’s a way to pass on good practices and also to see the managers of other cultural venues in Rennes (Le Liberté, Les Champs Libres, MDA, Le Tambour) and compare our points of view!” explains Mark.
His favorite place in the Couvent des Jacobins
“I really like my office, which is located at the Prieuré, especially when the whole production team is there. This is where events are viewed, using plans, roadmaps and rental quotes. But it is also a place of complicity, mutual aid and sharing. Above all, we are very likely to be in an office with restored woodwork. It’s a great setting and something more than white walls and bay windows !”.
His favorite places in Rennes
The cinema is a must for him, once a week at least.“Whether at Gaumont or at L’Arvor (art and test cinema). Otherwise, the bars of Place Sainte-Anne, a stone’s throw from the Convent, of course !”
Son hobby
The manager practices archery, more precisely the compound bow. “It’s not the arc of Legolas (the elf from Lord of the Rings), but the one you can see in smaller movies, like Blade. I have a few national titles to my credit. Archery is more than a hobby or a passion, it’s in my skin! “A discipline that requires precision and patience, like his job…
