“Koko and Riko, the book characters, have become familiar to many Latvian children. On the other hand, we, the authors of the books, have met these children – Coco and Rico’s friends, and have often heard the desire to meet the rat boys themselves. Therefore, together with creative like-minded people who know the nature of both rats well, we have created an event where you can meet and have fun,” says author Evija Gulbe with a smile.
“Koko and Rico, just like children, cannot sit still for long, but adults mostly demand exactly that – to be calm and polite. At Coco and Rico’s disco, we’ll do the opposite.”
Director Đirts Šolis tells about the design and production of the show: “We want to create a fun, easy-to-understand, live-in and danceable show for our children and ourselves, where everyone interested will be able to learn some choreographic tricks and techniques, dance steps and games.”
“In a word, you really jump out, dance and sing. And all this – just like in a real disco! Our music producer Mikus Frischfelds has already created a series of catchy and popular club hit tunes, while choreographer Katrina has shared her experience with Coco, Rico and Peris. Everything is happening! We are getting ready, and we are waiting for you at the disco!”
The characters Koko and Rico created by the writer Evija Gulbe and the artist Linda Lošina have been popular and beloved characters of children’s books in Latvia for more than ten years. “Zvaigzne ABC” supplies several reading books, audiobooks, coloring books with tasks, exercise books for learning numbers and letters and hardcover books, while in 2019 the book series “Koko and Rico” received the AKKA/LAA Copyright Infinity Award.
