The Meerpaal days started again on Thursday. Until Saturday there is a fair during the day and there are various activities on the Meerpaalplein. In the evening there are performances in the party tent, including singer Django Wagner.
It seems as if the whole of Dronten is coming for the holidays. For residents of Dronten it is therefore a kind of reunion: a moment to see former classmates, friends and relatives again. “It’s a party where you meet everyone again,” says a visitor on Thursday evening. He has just spent 70 euros on food and drink tokens. “Should be enough for tonight,” he says with a laugh.
“Of course we don’t have that many entertainment venues here,” says another resident of Dronten. “So it’s just nice to all get back together.” Two young women have come to the marquee to see old classmates again. “But also parents of old friends, for example,” says one. “It’s all possible here,” adds the other.
