Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev said that in the victorious match of the quarterfinals of the Masters in Indian Wells with Alejandro Davidovich-Fokina, he played on painkillers.
“I’m actually glad my ankle didn’t hurt a lot because when I warmed up it hurt quite a lot. I knew that I would play, I knew that I would try. But I couldn’t move well in the warm-up. I tried to warm up my ankle as long as possible, took one painkiller, so that must have helped. In fact, I felt better and better during the match.” leads slova Medvedeva official site ATP.
Medvedev beat Zverev at the Masters and extended a 17-match winning streak
Medvedev reached the semi-finals of the Masters series tournament in Indian Wells. The Russian, seeded at the tournament under the fifth number, in the 1/4 finals beat Davidovich-Fokina, the 28th racket of the world, with a score of 6:3, 7:5.
Medvedev is world No. 6 with 18 ATP titles in his career. After being eliminated in the third round of the Australian Open (in mid-January), the Russian won three tournaments in a row – in Rotterdam, Doha and Dubai. His winning streak has reached 18 matches, which is the most in 2023.
