Medvedev: We are signing “Turkish Stream” after the formation of a government in Ankara – 2024-08-25 07:10:37

/ world today news/ Russia expects an intergovernmental agreement on the Turkish Stream gas pipeline to be signed after the formation of a government in Ankara, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said in an interview with Radio and Television Slovenia.

“An intergovernmental agreement has not really been signed yet. The reason for this largely lies in the fact that there is no government / in Turkey /. Our partners, our colleagues in Turkey must form this government. This is not easy, as experience sometimes shows “We are conducting negotiations with them. I hope that when all political problems are resolved, when the political process is over, we will be able to finally agree on all issues,” Medvedev said.

In December of Russia abandoned the realization of the South Stream gas pipeline, which was supposed to pass through Bulgaria, Serbia and Hungary, because of the “non-constructive position of the EU” and decided to build a gas pipeline through Turkish territory.

According to Medvedev, the South Stream project has fallen victim to bureaucracy in Brussels. “We were ready to implement it, we made a lot of preparations, we even spent a lot of money on it, we were ready to start construction on the seabed, but the Brussels officials said that they could not agree, in fact everything was delayed, stuck. Bulgaria did not a decision could be made and this project was buried.”

He defined “Turkish Stream” as an alternative to “South Stream”. /TASS
