Medvedev reached the Australian final with epic overtones

Daniil Medvedev ordered everyone to shut up, but mainly Alexander Zverev who could not close the match with a two-set lead.

The Russian completed a historic comeback and reached the final of the Australian Open. It was 5-7, 3-6, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (5) and 6-3 in four hours and 18 minutes to reach his third final in Melbourne.

It will be the sixth Grand Slam final for Medvedev, who has a major title, against Serbian Novak Djokovic in Flushing Meadows in 2021.

With the victory, the Moscow tennis player leads his head-to-head with Zverev by 12-7, after having won six of the last seven meetings.

It was the fourth time that the Muscovite completed a comeback after losing the first two sets. The first of them was against the Croatian Marin Cilic at Wimbledon (third round, 2021), the second against the Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime at the Australian Open (quarterfinals, 2022) and the third against the Finnish Emil Ruusuvuori in this edition (second round).
