Russia’s Daniil Medvedev knocked out American Chris Eubanks’ hopes at the Wimbledon Open to book his place in the men’s singles semi-finals with a thrilling five-set victory.
And the British news agency (BA Media) stated that Eubanks, ranked No. 43 in the world, appeared to be close to qualifying for the golden square of the tournament, after he advanced to the title holder of the 2021 edition of the US Open Tennis Championship 2/1, to enter the tie-break in the fourth set.
But the third seed, Medvedev, managed to come back to win 6/4, 1/6, 4/6, 7/6, 6/1.
Medvedev set a date in the semi-finals with Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, who reached this role by defeating Dane Holger Rohn. Alcaraz had defeated his childhood friend Holger Rohn to reach the golden square of Wimbledon for the first time in his career.
Top seed Alcaraz and sixth seed Ron played together in doubles when they were 14 years old, and now they have met each other for the first time in the quarter-finals of Wimbledon.
It was the first time that they also met in one of the four major tournaments (Grand Slam), and this may be the beginning of a rivalry between them for the next 10 or 15 years, and the Spaniard succeeded in excelling by winning 7/6, 6/4, 6/4.
