MedpädCast – The podcast by and for medical educators
Students start podcast series.
MedpädCast – The podcast by and for medical pedagogues – This was the motto of the project work in module M9 of the master’s degree in medical pedagogy in the last two semesters. Under the direction of Robert Leschowski, research assistant in the bachelor’s and master’s degree in medical education, the students of the 2020 summer semester set themselves the goal of creating three episodes of a podcast on topics in medical education.
The first episode with the title “Wir l (i) Just Teaching” was published on January 4th, 2022. The episode is aimed primarily at trainees and members of the health professions who are interested in studying medical education. In conversation with the course director Prof. Dr. Hiltraut Paridon is given first insights into the content of the course and topics such as teacher shortages and recognition of degrees are addressed.
The second episode will be released on January 18, 2022 with the title “Möhrchen fürs Hirn”. Here, tips and tricks are explained, which should help to organize and cope with all tasks of the job, the study and also the family during a part-time medical education course. In a dialogue, two students give tips on how to create a private balance in order to stay healthy despite high demands.
Episode 3 will follow on February 1st, 2022 with the title “Let me through – I’m a student!”. In an interview with Prof. Dr. Sebastian Koch, professor in the bachelor’s and master’s degree in medical education, and Markus Herwig, student in the master’s degree in medical education, are shown possible perspectives and career opportunities after studying medical education up to and including a doctorate.
Looking back on the work process, project manager Katrin Bufe reports: “I am very positively impressed with what we have achieved as a semester group. During the project work we mainly got to know the creative sides of our fellow students, but also discovered organizational talents and technology freaks. We supported each other very well and on behalf of our entire group I can say that we are incredibly proud of our joint result. There will be a little candy after the episodes have been published – probably in March. We will create a video presentation on our YouTube channel that summarizes our project work over the last two semesters and shows with comments, photos and one or the other outtake how much we enjoyed this module. ”
The podcasts can be heard on both Spotify and YouTube.
