A fantasy version of a Tarkov-style game set in the Middle Ages has emerged. ‘Dark and Darker’ is the main character.
Dark and Darker is a game developed by Iron Mace, a national game developer, and is a battle royale game that combines both PvP and PvE. The main objective of the game is to use characters of various classes to roam the dungeon, capture monsters, collect equipment and use them to survive. The test has been conducted twice so far and the second test, which took place on October 28, was conducted three days longer than the previously scheduled time thanks to user support.
Although it is a battle royale, the number of participants is relatively small. In the case of the “1st floor”, the largest map, up to 33 people can participate and there are maps that can match up to 16 people and 9 people. For reference, in this test, I was able to experience a dungeon that 16 people can match up in and a map of hell that those who survived can enter through a portal. The dungeon map is dark enough to only be seen in RPGs or fantasy novels, so you have to carry a flashlight and there are a lot of traps. The hell map is full of very dangerous monsters and the Phantom King and the Lich boss appear.
Another feature of the game is that the game itself aims for a very hardcore battle royale. The number of skills is limited, the variety of weapons is very diverse, and there are many means of modifying or equipping them. In particular, it is very similar to Escape from Tarkov in that it supports detailed interactions, such as recovering skills through meditation or a bonfire, or opening a locked box with a door opener in hand.
Dark and Darker is expected to launch in the fourth quarter of next year, with an early access version due out in April next year. Detailed information regarding the game will be released at a later time.
