From Wednesday May 25 to Sunday May 29, 2022, the new Joan of Arc celebrations transform Rouen into a true medieval stronghold where craftsmen, artists and fantastic creatures rub shoulders…
Due to the health context, these celebrations could not be celebrated in 2020, the year of the centenary of the canonization of Joan of Arc. Only the official ceremonies could take place.
This year, the City, the shopping association Les Vitrines de Rouen and Rouen Normandie Tourisme et Congrès have joined forces to offer the new Joan of Arc celebrations.
Extremely rich, the program includes medieval and fantastic animations deployed in all the districts allowing everyone to satisfy their curiosity and the youngest to marvel.
Four days of playful, popular, cultural and commercial events to promote the city on the scale of the worldwide reputation of the medieval heroine.
This 2nd highlight of the new Joan of Arc celebrations will be launched by “Rouen ma Jeanne d’or et d’azur”, a gathering of children from municipal and associative leisure centers on Wednesday May 25, 2022, on the Saint-Sever esplanade, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Markets, know-how and chivalry
From Thursday to May 29, 2022, Rouen will reconnect with its medieval roots.
For a weekend, visitors will discover at the bend of a street, a square, medieval markets, craftsmen perpetuating the know-how of the trades of the Middle Ages, demonstrations of falconry and chivalry, at the rhythm of songs and dances of the time.
This first part of entertainment will be punctuated by the very impressive “Fuegoloko” fire show (in photo), combining pyrotechnic effects, flames and frenzied music on the forecourt of the town hall, Friday May 27, 2022, at dusk. the night and the big parade of all the companies on Saturday May 28 from the Vieux-Marché, at 5 p.m.
The Joan of Arc celebrations would be nothing without the traditional lighting of the flame and the laying of wreaths, in the presence of Stéphane Bern, guest of honor for this new edition, Saturday May 28, 2022, at 11 a.m. Place du Vieux-Marché.

Magic, fantasy and cosplay
Another atmosphere on Saturday May 28, 2022 with a day dedicated to the fantastic universe, its strange creatures and its mythical characters.
Where we find Korrigan, a funny storyteller, a summoning druid followed by strange companions perched on stilts, prankster goblins who love to play with the public they meet…
Cosplay enthusiasts will also find fantastic creatures and legendary figures wandering around different squares in the city and can have their pictures taken with them.
An immersion full of magic and posesy that neither Tolkien nor the authors of ancestral Celtic legends would deny.
Consider public transport
During this great festive weekend, the crowd will be very strong in town. In order to access all the events in complete peace of mind, use public transport.
The Tip network is free on Saturdays. The opportunity to leave your car at the city entrances in the various park-and-ride facilities made available and to reach the city center by metro, Teor and bus.
Note that pedestrian traffic will be reduced on Place Saint-Sever. Parking will also be prohibited there, as in the streets of General Giraud, Racine and Bouvreuil.
