Medicine / Health, Illness | EMA: No evidence that coronary vaccine interferes with menstruation

It can not be shown that coronary vaccine disrupts the menstrual cycle in women, concludes the European Medicines Agency (EMA).

The EMA’s safety committee (PRAC) has examined hundreds of reports from women who have reported various forms of menstrual disorders after receiving coronary vaccine.

The conclusion is that so far there is no evidence that it is the vaccine that causes these disorders, writes the Swedish magazine The world of pharmaceuticals.

The PRAC points out that menstrual disorders are common and that they often occur without any medical underlying cause.

Common causes are often stress and fatigue, but also disease states such as endometriosis, according to the PRAC.

However, the EMA’s safety committee will further investigate the possibility of a causal link and has asked all EU-approved vaccine manufacturers to contribute additional data.
