About a year ago, the Federal Agency for Medicines and Health Products (FAMHP) in our country sent a circular to general practitioners and specialists with the request to warn patients. “But you get so much mail in the mailbox that many of those letters are hardly read,” says Vankrunkelsven. “We need to list those possible side effects much more clearly on the package insert. In the US it is mandatory to put the warning in a thick black box so that everyone can see it. With us you have to search in the smallest print among possible rare side effects So that circular is a good initiative, but clearly insufficient.”
