Medical Union plans legal action against decree that eliminates compulsory vaccination

The National Medical Union strongly attacked the decree proposed by President Rodrigo Chaves, which seeks to eliminate the mandatory nature of the COVID-19 vaccine, and they are already planning to take legal action.

“The legal department of the Medical Union is working on this, we have already heard from many respected jurists in this country who say that this decree is illegal.

“At the time the decree is issued, we are already prepared as the National Medical Union to take the appropriate legal actions so that an illegality like this, which is to the detriment of Costa Ricans, does not occur,” he said on the program. 7 days Dr. Edwin Solano, president of the Medical Union.

For the doctor, “the consequences that this may have, must be assumed by whoever has to assume them”, so they are ready to use the legal route against this measure of the new Government.

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Costa Rica also reacted negatively against this decree and the one that seeks to eliminate the use of the mask.

“We are aware that the population is tired of the use of masks and, despite the fact that there is a higher percentage of the population vaccinated, the pandemic is not over. Costa Rica is at the gates of a fifth wave, so the ideal thing would have been to wait for the behavior that this will have, before making a decision like the one that has just been communicated, “said Mauricio Guardia, president of the college.

The decree signed by the president will come into force once it is published in the official newspaper La Gaceta.

In the middle of the legislative plenary session, opposition deputy Gloria Navas (New Republic) Navas took the opportunity to call for reflection on that decree and the apparent violation of national and constitutional regulations.

“Let’s reflect on that decree that removed vaccines and masks, because there is apparently a violation of constitutional and national regulations, in the sense that that decree that was issued yesterday with great enthusiasm should have respected several laws and jurisprudence,” Navas said.
