Among the annoying aftermath of this pandemic, there is one that risks becoming a real bubo for runners and more generally for sportsmen. Anyone contracted the coronavirus, at the time of renewing the sports medical certificate he will have to undergo one series of additional diagnostic tests which, except in exceptional cases, must be paid separately.
The situation is still unclear, so much so that some sports medicine centers apply the protocol to the letter, with inconvenience and costs for the “patients”, others observe strict criteria, but first verifying the severity of the symptoms of the previous pathology and calibrating any additional tests only for the most severe cases. The question is being examined by the Scientific Technical Committee, which the Italian Sports Medical Federation would have asked for less restrictive changes, but at the moment there have been no answers.
Below we explain what are the procedures to follow, such as additional exams, costs and problems to be faced.
