Medical Emergency Halts Leyton Orient-Lincoln City Match in English Third-Tier Football League

A medical emergency in the stands caused the Leyton Orient-Lincoln City match to be canceled 84 minutes after it started yesterday, Tuesday, in the English third-tier football league.

A Leyton Orient fan ran onto the pitch to alert the referee of the medical emergency before a number of fans sat on the pitch to prevent the match from continuing.

According to British media, the medical staff performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the fan on the side of the field before play stopped.

The match was canceled an hour after play stopped, while Leyton Orient, whose home match was being played, was leading 1-0.

In his first comment on the incident, Leyton Orient said in a statement: “All our thoughts at Leyton Orient Football Club are with the fan and his family at this difficult time.”

He added: “The club would like to thank all the fans who attended the match at Brisbane Road this evening for the compassion they showed during this very difficult situation.”

In turn, the English Football League indicated that a decision regarding the canceled match will be issued after consultation with both clubs.
