They receive the award for their collaboration with the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The collaboration includes, among other things, visits to each other’s universities and digital lectures.
– We are both proud and happy about the award. For us, internationalization has meant a lift for everyone in the education in Umeå, says Estelle Naumburg in a press release from Umeå University.
The motivation for the award is: »With their initiative for educational collaboration with the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, the pediatrics teachers at Umeå University have created a platform for knowledge exchange and cultural understanding through student mobility, internationalization at home and teacher collaboration. Their work has strengthened the teaching skills of teachers at both universities, and raised awareness of healthcare practices in a low-income country. By exposing students and teachers to new norms and challenges, they have contributed to a global perspective that is crucial in today’s world, where health challenges often cross national borders.«
The prize is awarded by the seven medical faculties in Sweden to an individual teacher or a work team that has contributed to increasing internationalization in education and teaching. The initiative will highlight international dimensions in the education and deepen the students’ global perspective.
