Recently, FC Luzern has attracted a lot of attention off the field. On February 10, 2023, the city council announced that it was following events surrounding FC Luzern with concern. He asked those involved to support football in Lucerne and all of Central Switzerland and invited those involved to mediation talks with the Swiss Football League.
Another mediation meeting took place yesterday. Due to the development of the conflict between FCL Holding and FC Luzern-Innerschweiz AG on the one hand and Bernhard Alpstaeg on the other hand, the city council and the Swiss Football League have declared the mediation talks to be over. The parties are now continuing the talks bilaterally. The city of Lucerne and the Swiss Football League do not provide any information about the content of the mediation talks.
The city of Lucerne will now do everything in its power to ensure that the stadium on the Allmend in Lucerne continues to be used as a venue for top-flight football. The Swiss Football League is concentrating on the proper implementation of the ongoing licensing process.
Mayor Beat Züsli regrets the development and hopes that “the conflict will come to an end within a reasonable period of time. FC Luzern plays an important sport-political role for the city of Lucerne, the region and the whole of Switzerland. Everything must be done to ensure the continued existence of the FCL.”
