Many hours of overtime continue the mediation between the parties in the front subject. More than 28,000 industrial employees may be taken out on strike, but will attend work on Friday.

– There are a few hours left before we can find a solution. There has been work throughout the night, but there is still a great distance between the parties, says mediator Mats Wilhelm Ruland on Friday morning, according to Free Trade Union Movement.
Ruland is careful to comment on the barriers that mediation faces, but confirms that there are challenges associated with calculating inflation.
The parties have been working all night. Ruland says NRK that there are several topics that are difficult.
– It is the totality that is decisive before the parties reach the goal, says Ruland.
The deadline for mediation expired at midnight Friday night. At 7.40 the mediation was still going on.
In overtime
– The parties decided to continue the mediation in overtime. The mediation is still ongoing on Friday morning. Employees will thus show up for work as normal, Fellesforbundet reports websites a little over 5 o’clock.
Neither Fellesforbundet nor Parat reached an agreement with the employers’ organization Norsk Industri in the voluntary mediation.
Thus, the settlement went to forced mediation, and the parties met with national mediator Ruland on Monday this week.
Will throw the tie
The Ombudsman announced that he will throw away the tie when there is a clarification.
– I still have the tie on, and we will probably continue with the mediation for a while longer, he said NRK slightly after 11pm on Thursday night.
– It’s movement. Now the parties sit and work separately, and then they also work in working groups. And then we will have meetings further through the night, Ruland continued.
Difficult backdrop
Earlier on Thursday, Ruland told NTB that there is a difficult backdrop this year, where the economy is on its way out of a pandemic, in addition to high inflation and rising interest rates over the past year.
27,600 members of Fellesforbundet and around 1,000 in Parat will go on strike from Friday if no agreement is reached.
Of course, this is not the first time that mediation has taken place in overtime: in 2020, the parties mediated 23 hours of overtime before they agreed. It was the last strike in the frontline negotiations in 1996.
