MediaTek is expected to launch a new generation of flagship 5G chip Dimensity 9300 this month. Many people must be very curious about its performance and whether it can beat its rival Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen3. Recently, a well-known Chinese whistleblower has revealed the main specifications. The details include not only the clock speed and CPU core configuration, but also the performance of both the CPU and GPU. Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen3 has been used in the test software. It seems that Qualcomm may be a little worried this time.
MediaTek Dimensity 9300 performance revealed! Both CPU and GPU surpass Qualcomm 8 Gen3, but there is no energy-saving core
Recently, the well-known Chinese whistleblower “Digital Chat Station” exposed the specification details of MediaTek’s latest flagship Dimensity 9300 chip on Weibo. The content stated that the CPU of this chip will have a maximum clock speed of 3.25GHz and a specification of 1 x4 + 3 X4 + 4 A720, a total of eight cores, the same as previously exposed, that is, 4 Cortex-X4 super cores and 4 Cortex-A720 cores.
It can also be noticed from here that the Dimensity 9300 is not equipped with any low-power Cortex-A520 core, so it is basically certain that the power consumption of this chip will not be too low, and no surprise it should be higher than Snapdragon 8 Gen3. The GPU part is the Immortalis G720 with a total of 12 cores.
The next sentence is what many people are concerned about: the performance of Dimensity 9300. Although Digital Chat Station has written about specific running scores and cannot release them, using the Entertainment Rabbit V10 test, the CPU and GPU of Dimensity 9300 beat Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen3.
It is worth noting that Digital Chat Station did not mention energy consumption, so it is not sure how the Soc will perform under continuous working load and whether it can control the temperature. If not, frequency reduction will definitely occur. In this way, this benchmark There is not much meaning in testing, because its performance stability will be worse than Snapdragon 8 Gen3.
But I guess MediaTek must have found a solution before they dare to use performance cores and abandon energy-saving cores. If this is the case, future mobile phone flagship chips should be priced at the price of all large cores, which is quite exciting.
MediaTek Dimensity 9300 has previously been confirmed to use TSMC’s N4P process technology, which is a 4-nanometer process node. Compared with N5 and N4 process technologies, it not only improves performance, but also significantly improves energy efficiency. In addition, the Cortex-X4 core of MediaTek Dimensity 9300 is also expected to provide a 15% performance improvement and a 40% reduction in power consumption, while the energy efficiency of the Cortex-A720 core is also improved by 20%.
The content revealed by Digital Chat Station this time is a prototype, so the configuration may change when MediaTek officially releases it, so we still have to wait until the press conference to find out. We will keep track of any latest news.
