Dubai: MediaOne Super Cup matches have kicked off in Dubai. Former Indian football captains IM Vijayan and Joe Paul Ancheri ushered in the matches. Director Prajesh Sen was a guest at the opening ceremony.
Palakkad Panthers entered the semi-finals after defeating Thrissur Tuskers in their first group match. IM Vijayan said that the Super Cup matches organized by MediaOne in UAE and Saudi Arabia can increase the excitement of the World Cup in Qatar. He also said that this is a time of change in Indian football.
Prominent footballer Jopaul Ancheri said the Super Cup matches organized by MediaOne are exciting with few days left for the World Cup. He also said that the Malayali football enthusiasm is an example to the world.
Malappuram Heroes and Kasaragod Raiders will face each other in Group B. Group C match is between Kozhikode Kings and Kannur Warriors. Ernakulam Challengers and Thiruvananthapuram Titans will clash in Group D. Tomorrow the semi-finals and the final will be played.
