We can say: finally! Finally statistics from the Central Statistical Office, where one does not scratch one’s head with the question “who earns so much?!” The median monthly salary in the national economy amounted to PLN 6,549.22 gross in March.

Until now, we have received such information every two years. The median salary provided covers the first three months of this year, but it is still closer to the bigger picture than the average earnings from companies with more than 9 employees that have been shown so far.
The first quarter of 2024 looked as follows:
“The value of the median salary indicated differences based on gender – for men it amounted to PLN 6,770.08 and was PLN 412.64 higher than for women” – informs the Central Statistical Office.
In terms of age, the highest median, PLN 6,885.0, was in the 35-44 age group.
By entity size, the highest median salary value was observed in entities employing 1,000 people or more. It amounted to PLN 7,941.18.
In March 2024, the 10% of the lowest earners received PLN 4,242 gross, and only here are women’s and men’s salaries at the same level. Conversely, the 10% of the highest earners received a payment of PLN 14,016 gross.
“Remunerations were also diversified by type of activity. In March 2024, the highest median value was recorded in the Information and communication section, where it amounted to PLN 10,558.90. In 15 out of 19 analyzed PKD sections, the median of men’s remuneration was higher than the median of women’s remuneration,” we read in the GUS study. The highest average remuneration recorded in this section was almost PLN 15,000 gross.

The largest difference between the earnings of both sexes was indicated in financial and insurance activities, where men had a 43.7 percent higher median salary than women, which translates into a difference of over PLN 7 thousand in average earnings. In turn, women earn more than men in construction, by 32.6 percent, earning an average of PLN 1.3 thousand more per month.
