MediaMarkt will close three stores at the end of this month. This is reported by the French-speaking Christian employee union CNE and is confirmed by the company.

It concerns three smaller MediaMarkt stores in Eke near Ghent, Lodelinsart (Charleroi) and Alleur (Ans). “The stores that are closing are not profitable and will not be in the future. They are shops-in-shops, at the Makro. They are a few kilometers from a larger MediaMarkt. Customers prefer to go to our large stores in the area,” explains MediaMarkt spokeswoman Janick De Saedeleer.
44 people work at the shops that close. These will be transferred to larger MediaMarkt stores in the area. “Nobody loses their job,” the spokeswoman said.
In total, the electronics chain in our country has 27 stores. So that will be 24 at the end of September. In the coming years, MediaMarkt is planning additional stores in our country. “There are still a few regions where there is a demand for a MediaMarkt. We continue to invest in physical stores,” the spokeswoman assures.
