Media: Youtube star Keenan Cahill (27) has died

Cahill’s manager told TMZ the 27-year-old underwent heart surgery on Dec. 15 and complications arose which led to him being placed on a ventilator.

Cahill died on Thursday as a result of treatment interruption at the Chicago hospital, writes TMZ.

He was diagnosed with Maroteaux-Lamy disease at the age of one. It is an inherited metabolic disorder that causes short stature, rough facial features, abnormal growth of bones in the hands and feet, and decreased joint movement.

In an interview with VG i 2011 he told Cahill of living with the disease:

– For me it is completely normal as I have always felt this way. I have had nine major operations and have to take medication. But it’s part of my life. I feel really lucky to have contracted this disease. Without it, I wouldn’t have met all the wonderful people. For example, I’ve met a lot of cancer patients and I know what they’re going through, so I feel lucky, she said, among other things.

In the interview, she also said that she decided early on what her life motto would be.

– I know I’m different, but that never stopped me, he said and continued:

– My life motto has always been that no one should tell me that I can’t do something. Therefore, I feel like a role model. My mom just said I should think about all those kids out there who thought they couldn’t do things because they were different, but then they could look at me and what I accomplished.
