The French-speaking Catholic Radio pursues, with its 2021-2022 programming, a desire to become more open to generalist local subjects. RCF Bourgogne will switch to DAB + in Dijon and Chalon-sur-Saône.
At the time of developing its grid for the year 2021-2022, RCF Bourgogne has not deviated from its editorial line, in particular that of “sharing the joy”. Director of radio in Burgundy, Jean-Michel Reiss reaffirms that one of the leitmotifs of programming each year remains to “open up to the world, make people want to understand and love the world”. On the airwaves, there are four hours of local dropout. The usual emissions are maintained with novelties all the same.
Novelties
On Friday morning, from 11:00 a.m. to 11:10 a.m., Pierre Bodineau goes through the ancient world and the history of Japan. The Thursday show “C le Mag” (two 18-minute sequences interspersed by the newspaper, from 6.10 p.m. to 7.00 p.m.), is enriched with new themes such as heritage, environment or even science, since CNRS researchers now come to report account of their research.
Speaking of novelties, several have been incorporated into the Midday Workshops (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 12 noon). The word is once again given to associations and organizations whose humanism and the social are strong values. Integration into employment (EPIDE) or the talents of migrants (Talents Without Borders) are notably on the speaking time program.
In the new programs, we can note an accentuated interest for the environment and biodiversity, for integral ecology itself (monthly program of 25 minutes) going in the direction of the words of Pope Francis on this question.
On Friday evening in “C le Mag”, it will talk with partners – the conservatory of natural spaces of Burgundy, the Regional Biodiversity Agency and the Nature Reserves of France – “of the beauty of the Earth and the importance to respect it ”, underlines Jean-Michel Reiss. Before that, Marie Darson will discuss topical issues with her guests. As Christophe Lapostolle and Béatrice Bourely do on the other days of the week.
The strongly updated program “Music: ask for the program!” Is announced on Sundays at 5 pm.
Switching to DAB + in Dijon and Chalon-sur-Saône
This new radio year will also mark the transition to the DAB + format within the framework of Digital Terrestrial Radio. On October 12, 2021, two metropolitan allotments will be launched and will cover, to sum up, all the motorways in France.
More locally, two allotments will concern Dijon. The “extended Dijon” one goes from Paray-le-Monial to Chaumont. Withheld from this allotment, RCF radio in Burgundy will eventually lose Mâcon (attached to extended Lyon).
The launch target being set by the CSA to cover at least 40% of the inhabitants of the area, RCF Bourgogne initially made the choice to invest in two transmitters to switch to DAB + on the frequencies of Dijon. and Chalon-sur-Saône (55% of the inhabitants of the area). In two years, it will be a question of covering the whole of Saône-et-Loire and the north of the Côte-d’Or.
Although this development is essential as “a necessary step” according to Jean-Michel Reiss, projecting towards the disappearance of FM in twenty years, the increase in the audience raises questions. “We are going there but we do not know what will be the listening share”, admits the director of RCF Bourgogne, taking into account the decrease in car traffic, the decrease in purchases of new vehicles equipped with the right stations and at the same time the diversity of radios as well as the different listening modes and ways observed (smartphones, easy zapping).
In the other projects, RCF Bourgogne positioned itself last April for the takeover of the FM transmitters of Chaumont and Langres, returned since the end of RCF Aube Haute-Marne in June 2020. RCF Bourgogne is not the only radio candidate for This resumption, the decision of the CSA is expected at the end of 2021.

RCF Bourgogne is attacking this new season in any case with the reaffirmed desire that this French Christian radio is not limited to religion. “We had an image of Catholic radio, too Catholic, which was addressed only to believers and practitioners,” recalls Jean-Michel Reiss, assuring today that “RCF Bourgogne has proved that it is open in terms of content ”.
