Combating child pornography
Dresden Public Prosecutor’s Office and Dresden Police Department carry out extensive search measures in Dresden and the surrounding area
The Dresden Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Dresden Police Department carried out extensive search measures on December 9, 2021 as part of a “joint action on child pornography”. Similar missions had already taken place on April 28, 2021 and July 14, 2021 (see joint media information from the Dresden Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Dresden Police Department of April 28, 2021 and July 14, 2021, available from the Media Service Saxony at www.medienservice.sachsen .de).
Today, 20 apartments in the state capital Dresden and the two districts of Meißen and Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains were searched in 20 preliminary proceedings conducted by the Dresden public prosecutor’s office against a total of 21 suspects.
Extensive evidence, in particular 89 cell phones, 40 computers and over 100 other digital storage media, was seized in the course of the measures. In addition, small amounts of narcotics, parts of ammunition and a brass knuckle could be seized.
33 criminalists from the Dresden Police Department and around 100 officers from the Saxon riot police were involved in the operation. The concerted action that took place today is intended to effectively counter the significant increase in investigative proceedings in the field of child and youth pornography.
The investigations in the individual proceedings are ongoing and will take some time to complete, in particular due to the complex evaluation of the storage technology that is now required. (ml)
