Media: France has canceled a meeting of the two presidents over the purchase of Swiss fighter jets

Paris has canceled the long-planned meeting of the presidents of Switzerland and France, thus expressing its indignation that Bern has decided to buy US destroyers instead of French fighters, the media reported on Sunday.

Paris, however, immediately rejected this media news.

Two Swiss newspapers, Le Matin Dimanche and the SonntagsZeitung, report that France has canceled a November meeting between Emanuel Macron, the owner of the Elysee Palace, and Guy Parmelen, the Swiss president and minister for the economy.

Referring to unnamed sources in diplomatic circles, the two newspapers report that Paris made the decision in a way that was dissatisfied with the Swiss negotiating style ahead of its decision in June to buy 36 Lockheed Martin F35A fighter jets.

According to sources, according to Paris, the Swiss have continued negotiations with other manufacturers, including the French fighter Rafale, Dassault, although the decision to buy US aircraft has already been made.

Parmelen’s chancellery at the Ministry of Economy has confirmed that his meeting with Macron will not take place, but has emphasized that it has not yet been formally approved and that it cannot therefore be said that “the scheduled meeting has been canceled”.

In addition, the Registry stated that a “working visit” was planned, not a state visit.

The Elysee Palace has also stated that the meeting of the two presidents “has never been canceled, for specific reasons”.

The news came at a time when Paris’s relations with the United States and Australia had also deteriorated, thanks to Chamber’s decision to buy American nuclear submarines instead of French-made submarines.-
