The English Premier League club London Chelsea has signed an agreement with the goalkeeper of the French club Rennes from Senegal Eduard Mendy, the British broadcaster BBC reports.

Since joining the club from “Reims” in August 2019, Mendi has participated in 34 games as a member of “Rennes”.

Club coach Frank Lampard wants the 28-year-old Senegal national team player to compete with the club’s record-breaking 71 million pounds (77.5 million euros) contract holder Kep Arisabalag.

The Spaniard was to blame for Liverpool’s second-goal loss to Chelsea in a 0: 2 loss to the Premier League on Sunday, which Lampard described as a “clear mistake”.

After mistakes in the games last season, the goalkeeper of the Spanish national team was set aside.

It was also the English Football Association (FA) in the cup final, where the 25 – year – old was replaced by 38 – year – old goalkeeper Willie Caballero.

After a defeat at home against Liverpool champion, Lampard said Caballero would start the Karabao Cup against Barnsley at Stamford Bridge Stadium on Wednesday.

“Kep must continue to work and he must have support around him, that is clear,” he added.

“Some players need support, especially from myself, and I give it to all players. Now we have to try to give him confidence, because that is important, ”says the coach.

Last season, Rennes kept his goal intact nine times in 24 Ligue 1 matches in Mendy, compared to Kep’s eight “dry” games in 33 Premier League matches.

Mendi had a 76.3 percent rebound and scored every 114 minutes. Kepa had a fantastic opportunity to reply 53.5%, after 63 minutes.

Kep had better pass accuracy (79.7%) compared to Mendi’s 70.1 percent.

Mendi has played seven games for the Senegal national team since the end of 2018.
