Medellín Health Secretariat Offers Free Double Movie Passes for Children Who Receive MMR Vaccine

Under the ‘Be Empelicúlate with Vaccines’ campaign, the Medellín Health Secretariat will deliver, starting this Saturday, 3,499 double movie passes to children under 5 years of age who receive the MMR vaccine against measles, rubella and mumps.

Throughout the capital of Antioquia there will be 78 points enabled, in coordination with the EPS, IPS and the district administration, where the families of minors will be able to claim tickets to enjoy a performance at Cinemas Procinal.

The Secretary of Health, Mayelis de la Rosa Madrid, explained that with the initiative “we seek to encourage and raise awareness among all mothers and families about the importance of vaccination.”

The official recalled that all 9-year-old boys and girls between 9 and 17 years old can receive the HPV vaccine for free. “This prevents us against cervical and penile cancer,” added the official.

On the other hand, the campaign against southern strain 2023 influenza — which is aimed at people over 60 years of age, children between 6 and 23 months, pregnant mothers from week 14, patients with COPD and other populations at risk — is in its last days. .

The district administration also invited children under 6 years of age who have pending vaccines in their PAI scheme to go to the authorized centers. As well as women between 10 and 49 years old for completing the tetanus and diphtheria regimen and those over 6 months old who have pending doses against Covid-19.

The goal is to reduce the risk of serious illnesses or even dying from preventable diseases. In addition, the application of the additional dose against measles and rubella to those over one year old who were born after 2010 will continue.

The 78 enabled points will have extended hours, between 8 in the morning and 4 in the afternoon, to ensure greater attendance. The schedule is available on the Medellín Mayor’s website.
