The deer, according to the forest estate in a message, was a capital animal that had been cherished for years. The poacher (s) would have rotted the 100 kilos of meat. In its letter, the forest estate also complains about a difficult search for official support. The police in Korbach reported that three of the nine registered poaching cases in 2019 and 2020 were cleared up. In the case of the stag, however, the investigation had not led to any results.

Hunting poaching can be severely punished

Hunting poaching is a criminal offense (Section 292 of the Criminal Code). She is punished with fines or imprisonment for up to three years. In particularly serious cases, the penalty is between three months and five years’ imprisonment. Cases in which poaching is carried out commercially or habitually, at night, during the closed season, with snares or in any other unprofessional manner are considered particularly severe.
