The Variedades Theater will receive ‘Seres Danza-Teatro’ an emerging performing arts collective, which marks its debut on the Quito stages with the premiere play, Medea 2020.

Medea 2020 is a scenic proposal that searches the memory of human uniqueness; explores femininity from various perspectives, analyzes the construction and deconstruction of the paradigm of “being a woman”.
Through 6 pictures or scenes, 5 actresses and dancers, through the dance-theater technique, outline the work as a call to collective conscience, a questioning of social equality.
The “Ernesto Albán” Variety Theater, one of the most emblematic stages in the city, will host this premiere, which also marks the beginning of a new artistic proposal.
Seres Danza-Teatro is an emerging artistic collective, with permanent headquarters in Quito, it has a new scenic proposal that carries out inclusive creative processes and with the highest professional quality.
Promoting, disseminating, as well as consolidating and bringing the dance-theater genre to the highest level of artistic maturity are some of the objectives of this innovative project.
César Eduardo Alvarado is its director. He is a dancer, he did his artistic studies at the Metropolitan School of Dance, currently he is studying Cultural Management at the University of Tourism Specialties, UDET.
Since 2012 he has been part of the National Ballet of Ecuador and has worked with renowned choreographers such as Jaime Pinto, Rubén Guarderas, Héctor Sanzana, Christian Masabanda, Laura Alvear and Nelson Díaz, among others.
His professional training in the scenic field includes classes and workshops with Samuel Medina Pablo Molina, Marcela Correa and Christian Masabanda.
It has been part of festivals nationally and internationally. In 2017 he premiered his dance-theater play ‘La Emancipada’ and in 2019 he premiered ‘Yerma’ on the stage of the Ernesto Albán Varieties Theater together with the Fundación Teatro Nacional Sucre
