Medal table of the 2023 Pan American Games: the Peruvian winners

Peruvian sport had a new litmus test in the 2023 Pan American Games. The final medal table, where there were 32 medals, showed that our competitors in the different disciplines (39) lived up to this competition held in Chile.

Although they did not reach the 41 medals, between gold, silver and bronze, of the 2019 edition in Lima, our red and white athletes were able to occupy an important position on this occasion, taking into account that there were 41 participating countries: ninth place.

Medalist rejects recognition

The athlete Eriberto Gutiérrez, who won the bronze medal in the canoe slalom category, in the Kayak Cross K1 modality, did not accept the recognition from the mayor of Abancay, Raúl Peña.

The champion attended the award ceremony, but immediately returned what was given to him. He assured that he did it because he never had support from the municipality during his training for the 2023 Pan American Games.
