The medal of honor for work is intended to reward:
– seniority of honorable services performed by any employee or assimilated;
– the exceptional quality of the initiatives taken by employees or assimilated in the exercise of their profession or of their efforts to acquire a better qualification.
The medal of honor for work has four levels:
– the silver medal, which is awarded after 20 years of service;
– the vermeil medal, which is awarded after 30 years of service;
– the gold medal, which is awarded after 35 years of service;
– the big gold medal, which is awarded after 40 years of service.
For Overseas Territories, reduction of one third: money after 15 years; vermeil after 22 years and 6 months; gold after 26 years and 3 months; Great gold after 30 years.
Seniority is assessed on the date of promotion.
The medal of honor for work can be awarded:
– employees, whether or not of French nationality, working on the territory of the Republic for French or foreign employers;
– to employees, whether or not of French nationality working abroad:
* With a French employer;
* In a branch or agency of a company or an establishment whose head office is in the territory of the Republic;
* In the subsidiaries of French companies, even if these subsidiaries are not constituted under French law.
– to employees, whether or not of French nationality residing abroad and working in establishments other than those referred to in the previous article, may obtain the medal of honor for work if their professional activities have particularly contributed to the good reputation of France.
– posthumously, to employees who, at the time of their death, had the required number of years, provided that the request was made within five years of the date of death. The great gold medal may be awarded, without any length or service conditions, to employees who are victims of a fatal accident in the exercise of their profession.
– retired workers, regardless of the date of retirement or cessation of activity.
The following are also taken into account for the calculation of seniority:
– the time spent under the flags for compulsory national service in the French army;
– parental leave, up to a maximum of one year over a career;
– paid internships for professional training defined in Article L. 961-1 of the Labor Code;
– training leave defined in article L. 931-1 of the labor code;
– conversion leave defined in Article L. 322-4 of the Labor Code;
– periods of fixed-term contracts concluded in application of article L. 122-2 of the labor code.
Seniority reduction
A reduction in the length of service required to obtain the four steps is planned for:
– disabled workers:
* whose disability rate is between 50% and 75% (halving);
* for which the degree of incapacity is at least equal to 75% (award of the silver step without condition of length of service – award of other steps according to specific deadlines);
* whose disability rate is 100% (award of the grand or gold step without any duration condition).
– employees or assimilated whose activity is arduous and justifies that the minimum age of entitlement to retirement is lower than that in force under the general scheme. (medals awarded after 18, 25, 30 and 35 years old respectively)
– workers of French nationality residing outside metropolitan territory who have performed salaried services outside metropolitan territory (reduction of one third).
The medal of honor for work cannot be awarded:
– to workers who can claim, by reason of their profession or that of their employer, an honorary distinction awarded for seniority of service, by another ministerial department;
– to the magistrates of the judicial order and to the tenured civil servants of the central administrations of the State, of the dependent external services and of the public establishments of the State.
Constitution of the file:
In addition to the online form, you will be asked to attach:
– a certificate signed by the employer of the services giving entitlement to the medal; you can download and complete the certificate co-signed by the employer and the employee, including an automatic seniority calculation table;
– A copy of an identity document;
– If you are concerned, attach a descriptive statement from the military services or a photocopy of the military booklet;
– If necessary: photocopy of the pension certificate in the event of incapacity for work greater than 50%.
Supporting documents for the periods worked may be requested from the candidate by the medal of honor instructor service as part of the file verification.
Your request will be directed to the instructor service of the candidate’s department of residence.
Any incomplete file will not be taken into account and a new online request will have to be made.
