Mechelen

At the end of next month, Mechelen’s trade and catering industry will organize a major event around positivity and diversity. 27 traders and nine supply entrepreneurs, including Romy Curvy, are coming together for this. The event is a continuation of last year’s catwalk.

Last year, the entrepreneur Romy Schlimbach, known as the plus size model Romy Curvy and the manager of the Curvy Store in Brussels, organized a catwalk on the Grote Markt for the first time. Stand there positivity in female power in the middle. There were so many positive responses that the campaign will be extended this year.

Romy and the trade association Mechelen MeeMaken decided to join forces for an annual event with the support of 36 traders and suppliers. “Last year, the catwalk not only received good comments from visitors, but also from other entrepreneurs,” says Romy Curvy. “That’s nice. There’s a good feeling among the traders, because we have to make things better together.”

“Thanks to Romy and Lies Lauwers from Femina Lingerie, we will be organizing this wonderful event together for the first time at the end of next month, which will undoubtedly bring a lot of positive energy,” said Geert Milis from Mechelen MeeMaken. “There will be a grand tour, exciting beats and local food trucks. Visitors experience the latest collections and are rewarded with a goodie bag.”

Good buy

“Our city center already has many great events, such as the fair, the warm welcome weekend and Local Friday,” says Alderman for Economy Greet Geypen (For Mechelen). “The catwalk is a great asset. It fits perfectly with what we stand for as a city: a place where local shopping, a mixed offer and companies big and small are at the heart.”

The event will take place on Friday, May 31 from 6pm on the Grote Markt. The show starts at 8pm. The sellers show clothes not only for women, but also for children, men and dogs. In addition, the models also show many other products from Mechelen traders, such as glasses and accessories.
