The #FakeImages exhibition, previously presented at the Kazerne Dossin in Mechelen (Antwerp), will be exhibited at the United Nations headquarters in New York from January 16 to February 20. This includes the largest collection of anti-Semitic drawings, posters and objects collected by Arthur Langerman, a Belgian survivor of the Holocaust.
The exhibition, which features antisemitic images from several erasshows how antisemitism has developed over time and why antisemitism and other forms of discrimination and exclusion are still a problem today.
The contemporary section linked to the historical collection includes installations interactives that invite visitors to see and discover timeless mechanisms linked to these discriminations such as stereotypes, conspiracy theories, propaganda, trickery and humor.
After a first successful exhibition at the Kazerne Dossin in 2021 and a modified version of the exhibition presented at the headquarters of the European Commission in Brussels from November 8 to December 11, 2022, the third version will therefore now open its doors in New York.
The exhibition intends to play a role in preventing discrimination and hatred. This collection was brought together by Holocaust survivor Arthur Langerman, who collected over 9,000 original pieces, making it the largest such collection in Europe. This is run by the Center for Research on Antisemitism at the Technical University of Berlin.
