Many people have a vehicle with which they can get around, but few of those people know how to repair them. Much less keep them in optimal condition.

So time goes by and the problems get bigger, just like in life, and the exploitative mechanics end up helping that happen, that is, they become part of the problem (and of course, if we are a corrupt country in all its aspects). levels). Sometimes fortune eludes us to find honest and responsible mechanics to help us get out of problems, because they are like diamonds: difficult to find. In short, as Flavio Arriola says: “experiences are bought.”

The first vehicle I owned was a 1983 Subaru that my mother gave me before I turned twenty. It was not a vehicle in optimal condition, but it was functional, as well as durable. First he was red (like some politicians who today dress in a different color), but the sun made him look camouflaged in white and for that reason he went from being “the tomato” to being “the jiotoso.” He looked like a little dog with a jiote running on the road.

I had no idea what was needed to take care of it, I barely knew that you put gas in it. So much so that since the spark module was missing I ended up letting it go to waste and unfortunately a thief took it over when my mother decided to sell it while I was living in Mexico (the guy never paid). And to this day I still do not have basic mechanical knowledge that goes beyond such simple data, which has made it difficult for me to manage the other two cars I have had. Of course I know that it must be filled with gasoline, oil and water, and that it has periods to make its respective changes, but the anatomy of the car is still a mystery. However, I do not know how to change light bulbs or disassemble an engine or have enough knowledge so that an unscrupulous mechanic could not make a few hundred dollars as a result of my ignorance.

One of these Sundays, my uncle Luis Manuel gave me a mechanics class. He started by refreshing me at how many degrees water boils at: one hundred degrees. Then at how much does it freeze: at zero degrees. Thus, little by little he opened my eyes to searching www.youtube.com or other sites for information about it.

Definitely, it would be valuable if in addition to learning to drive and knowing traffic laws, it was essential to learn how to repair a car, maintain it, and know how to take care of it. And that was part of the requirements to get a driver’s license.
