This is the big comeback of the gymnasts from the Meaux club. This Saturday, April 30 will be the first time in over two years that Meaux welcomes a gymnastics competition open to public. It will be an opportunity for the Meldois to find the stars of the team and also to discover new faces.
Triumphant in Rouen (36-12) with 12 duels won out of 12, they will face Colomiers (Haute-Garonne) on the occasion of the 3rd day of Top 12 with a place in the semi-finals almost assured.
A victory this weekend would allow Meaux to potentially finish in the top two of the qualifying classification, a position which would give Meaux the opportunity to welcome the semi-finalist. The opponent of the day, Colomiers, had also defeated Rouen with a score of 9 duels to 3. A meeting which will be more complicated but where Meaux will be able to benefit from its public.
positive pressure
Is the return of the public to Meaux likely to add a pression to gymnasts? Not according to Patrick Andréani, technical director of the club: “Their friends, their parents and their teachers will be there but it will be a positive pressure, they want to show their talent”. All of them have gone through sport studies, they can benefit from high-level support and have learned to manage the stress. “We leave nothing to chance” emphasizes the director.
The team now enjoys a mix ofhope and D’experience with Marine Boyer in the role of “big sister”. In theory, the young aspire to reach the level of their peers and the older ones are motivated by the arrival of the new concurrence. A positive competitiveness within the team where everyone pulls themselves up is then created.
The first steps of Astria Nélo
The full card against Rouen allowed the team to concretize their preparation and get into trust before the second match against Colomiers. It was also an opportunity to review Marine Boyer in the colors of the club after returning from the Tokyo Olympics.
First in elite also for the young Astrid Nélo who performed well “She got a great grade and had great behavior” congratulated Patrick Andréani. It was a month of April full of firsts for Astrid Nélo since she also took part in the Elek Matolay Championships in Budapest, Hungary with the France Espoir team. Competition that France outclassed by winning eleven medals.
Nélo returned to Meaux with three medals silver thanks to his performances in the all-around, on vault and on bars. A great experience for the youngest from Meldoise who will reveal herself to the public of Meaux this weekend.
