‘Measures well received, but too few and too late’

Most people in the country (64 percent) support the new package of corona measures. Nevertheless, confidence in the government’s approach is dropping to an all-time low after the inserted press conference. The package is too little, too late, many people say. EenVandaag reports on the basis of its own research among more than 23,000 members of the Opinion Panel.

Each of the announced measures has the support of a majority of the people in the country. Two out of three people in the country are reasonably to very positive about the total package.

Yet there is a lot of social dissatisfaction with the new measures, the research shows. Many people (45 percent) think the measures are too few. Only three in ten think that the cabinet has taken sufficient measures.

Confidence in the government’s approach to the virus has fallen again after Monday’s press conference. Half currently support this approach. Never before since the start of the crisis have so few people supported the policy.
