Countries around the world are taking action to curb the spread of the coronavirus. In Italy, we have just entered a new phase by banning unnecessary travel and all gatherings. In France, we expect to move to phase 3 and many rallies are already canceled. In Belgium, it is this Tuesday that we should announce new precautions after a concertation committee which takes place this morning.

In Belgium
Federal Minister of Health Maggie De Block clarified that “the situation is under control in Belgium at the moment”. “But we have to prepare for other scenarios like it is the case in Italy today. We do a lot of meetings so that the different skill levels in Belgium can work the same way ”. The minister has, however, excluded any decision to introduce more stringent quarantine measures for the time being.
In France
All gatherings of more than 1,000 people are prohibited, whether outdoors or in an enclosed environment. All schools and nurseries are closed in the most affected regions. These regions are Haute-Savoie (La Balme and Contamines), Oise, Morbihan, Haut-Rhin. Wednesday’s PSG-Dortmund Champions League match will take place behind closed doors at the Parc des Princes and the France-Ireland rugby match scheduled for Saturday at the Stade de France has been postponed.
The transition to stage 3 is “inexorable,” said Prime Minister Edouard Philippe on Friday evening, while endeavoring to “play it down”: “This stage corresponds simply to an active circulation of the virus throughout the territory “, That is to say to the generalized epidemic. “The epidemic will be there anyway,” said President Emmanuel Macron earlier. Once this stage is reached, it is no longer a question of curbing the spread of the virus as in stage 2, where France has been since Saturday, but of mitigating the effects.
In Italy
Across the national territory is prohibited any form of gathering of people in public places or open to the public, provides for the last decree released Monday in the evening. Italy thus becomes the first country in the world to generalize such draconian measures to try to halt the spread of the coronavirus, which has already killed 463 people and more than 9,000 cases in the peninsula.
The decree also specifies that all sporting events “of any level and any discipline” are canceled. Only competitions organized by international institutions can be held, but behind closed doors, according to this official text. The football championship, a veritable institution in the country, has been suspended.
“I am going to sign a decree which can be summarized as follows:” I am staying at home. ” There will no longer be a red zone on the peninsula (…) The whole of Italy will become a protected zone “, said the head of government Giuseppe Conte in a serious tone during a press point at the seat of government in Rome.
“It will be necessary to avoid (displacements) on all the territory of the peninsula, except if they are motivated by justified professional reasons, by cases of necessity or by reasons of health”, he explained, resuming the very terms of the decree signed Monday evening.
