Measles Epidemic in Romania: 2,805 Cases and 3 Deaths Reported

In the course of one year, a total of 2,805 cases of measles were reported in Romania by the INSP, respectively three cases of death, and the number of cases increased in a week by almost 100 – reported the Maszol portal quoted by Rador Radio Romania. In the case of deaths it is about two 7-month-old infants from Brasov county, who could not yet be vaccinated with the 3-component serum, and the third victim was a 35-year-old man from Bucharest who was not vaccinated against this disease and had other problems. The cases were reported from 34 counties and from the Capital. The most cases are from Mureş county (761), Braşov (657), Cluj (201) and Bucharest (378). The Romanian Ministry of Health announced the epidemic at the beginning of December, making it possible to vaccinate children aged 9-11 months, respectively and immunization of children not yet vaccinated.
