In the midst of the celebrations of Francesco ‘Pecco’ Bagnaia who became the 2022 MotoGP World Champion, the sum of 21 + 42 = 63 was written. What does it mean?
These numbers are Pecco’s starting numbers during his career in the Grand Prix of all classes from Moto3 to MotoGP. Pecco himself made his Moto3 Grand Prix debut with Team Italia FMI in 2013.
Initially, Pecco used the number 41 in the CEV Moto3 2012. The number was taken from his idol, the legendary rider Noriyuki Haga. However, when he took part in Moto3, Pecco chose the number 21 which was inspired by the Australian rider Troy Bayliss.
In 2017 Pecco moved to Moto2. The number 21 was already used by Franco Morbidelli at that time. In the end Pecco chose to double his Moto3 starting number to 42. He has kept that number throughout his career in the Moto2 class.
In 2019 Pecco begins to take part in the premier class. Bagnaia cannot use the number 42 because he used it first Alex Rins. Finally, he raised the starting numbers of the Moto3 (21) and Moto2 (42) classes to 63.
So, the sum of 21 + 42 = 63 is what the Pecco team brought to celebrate the 2022 MotoGP World Champion.
Pecco broke the story. Because the last Italian rider to win the MotoGP was Valentino Rossi in 2009. Moreover, Ducati has also quenched its thirst for the title, having obtained it the last time in 2007 thanks to Casey Stoner. Not only that, Bagnaia and Ducati, which are the All Italian package, have created a new story, where the last time the finish line was entered was 50 years ago by Giacomo Agustini with MV Agusta.
