Last weekend, “Kaisermania” was broadcast on MDR. The Roland Kaiser Show impressed with particularly high ratings.
Dortmund – On August 3, 2024, the time had come. The concert of pop singer Roland Kaiser was broadcast live from Dresden on TV screens. The audience tuned in diligently, as the MDR ratings show. In addition, other program elements relating to the popular singer ensured a particularly high market share that evening.

On Saturday evening, tens of thousands of fans were able to experience Kaiser’s music on and off the stage. The singer created a lively atmosphere with well-known hits and new songs – and not just among the concertgoers.
A large number of people also gathered in front of the screens. Many music lovers spent several hours in front of the TV, so that the MDR, according to the dwdl.de achieved a daily market share of 3.6 percent. This put the third station in fourth place overall, ahead of Vox, Kabel Eins and Sat.1. RTL was ahead of MDR that day with just 1.6 percentage points.

Specifically, around 1.24 million people tuned in to “Kaisermania” in the evening. In the late hours, MDR therefore had a market share of around 6.2 percent. What was surprising was the realization that young people between the ages of 14 and 49 were also tuning in a lot – in this target group, the market share during the period was 3.3 percent.
The program element “The 30 most beautiful hits by Roland Kaiser”, which MDR showed after the concert, also brought in a number of viewers. This increased the high market share on that day even further. However, a show that was usually shown before “Kaisermania” was omitted this year.

Overall, MDR’s high ratings are particularly evident in comparison with other third-party broadcasters. In addition to MDR’s 3.6 percent daily market share, WDR achieved 2.5 percent, NDR 2.4 percent and SWR 2.1 percent. BR brought up the rear on Saturday with 1.8 percent.
